Gail Wareham on location in Crete & in the Art Studio

My Artwork is inspired by my surroundings, both urban & rural. I feel that nature provides us with an endless source of material, and I like to embrace this in my work. Colour vibrancy is important to me; making strong colours work together in a natural setting gives me personal satisfaction.

In my opinion, expression is the most
interesting and important aspect of Art, and is also one of the leading traits
of my tuition. When we express emotions, we generally all follow the same path - if we are happy, we laugh; if we are sad, we cry. However, when it comes to Art, we all express
ourselves differently, and in a very individual way. With Art, there is no right or wrong way to express what you see before you. In many cases, we can combine on paper what we feel in our hearts and heads, as well as what we see before us.

My aim when teaching Art, is to bring out this individualism. To help people develop the skills to portray their own expressions of what they see and feel when
creating a painting.

My own personal Artwork varies through mood. Some days are light and bright, hence the great spectrum of colour in my canvases. On other days, the left &logical side of my brain takes over and helps me produce graphite sketches with great
detail. This alone is a good example of how expression & emotions can change the overall effect of our Artwork.

I believe wholeheartedly that there is an artist inside every single one of us, and if you think I can help you to bring out your creative side, or help you develop a
specific skill, feel free to contact me at any time - I'm sure we will have a lot of fun whilst you create Artwork that you can be proud of.
